On 15 April, NGO Strong Because Free, a partner of the TERA Consortium, came under attack in Kherson.
As a result of the strike, their office, humanitarian hub, and a vehicle used to evacuate people from frontline areas – including persons with limited mobility – were damaged.
Intentional attacks against humanitarian personnel, facilities, materials, units, or vehicles involved in the delivery of humanitarian assistance constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols.
“Since the beginning of our work, we have evacuated 4000 people, including persons with limited mobility. Damage to the vehicle used for these evacuations poses a direct threat to the continuity of this assistance”
Oleksandr Honchar, project manager of Strong Because Free.
Humanitarian workers must never be targets. They must be able to carry out their work safely – to save lives.
We stand in solidarity with our partners and with all humanitarian teams who continue to save lives under constant risk.
