The initiative foresees renovation works in 11 facilities and the delivery of essential equipment to 3 additional collective sites.
The Charitable Foundation “Team4UA” is launching renovation works at Collective sites for internally displaced persons in Lviv and Rivne oblasts. The initiative is executed under the ACCESS project (Assistance for Collective Centers and Essential Support Services), implemented with financial support from the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF).
The project aims to improve living conditions for people forced to flee their homes due to the full-scale war. It combines the rehabilitation of temporary accommodation facilities with comprehensive support for IDPs and capacity building for local communities.
Planned interventions include medium repairs of residential premises, modernization of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) infrastructure, and the restoration of water supply systems. Ensuring accessibility is a core priority, involving the construction of barrier-free entrances and ramps, widening doorways, and adapting living quarters and sanitary units. Additionally, rooms will be partially equipped with furniture and essential household appliances.
Beyond infrastructure works, the project provides comprehensive support for IDPs:
- NGO “Ptakha Ukrainy” provides case management and assistance at transit hubs for evacuees from frontline areas, along with psychosocial support and integration services for newly arrived IDPs in Lviv Oblast communities, including persons with disabilities.
- “Center of Integration” NGO operates a mobile team in Rivne Oblast, providing comprehensive assistance, case management, and individual support for newly arrived IDPs.
- Team4UA Mobile Teams in Lviv Oblast offer case management, individual accompaniment, and conduct psychosocial support sessions for residents of temporary accommodation centers.
Where the Renovations Will Take Place
Following technical assessments and coordination with the Collective Site Management and Support (CCCM) Cluster, 14 temporary accommodation centers across Lviv and Rivne oblasts were selected for the project. Each site will undergo works tailored to its technical condition and the needs of its residents.
Lviv Oblast
- Novy Rozdil Professional Polytechnic College Dormitory (Novy Rozdil): Repairs of bedrooms, kitchens, and sanitary facilities on the 3rd floor, installation of a fire alarm system, and creation of new shelter spaces.
- “Rovesnyk” Sanatorium (Komariv village): Renovation of living rooms, hallway, and kitchen on the 4th floor, installation of a fire alarm system, and expanding capacity for new residents.
- Pidbuzh Geriatric Boarding House (Pidbuzh urban-type settlement): Renovation of sanitary facilities based on accessibility standards, floor leveling, electrical system upgrade, wall painting, and installation of an inclined wheelchair platform lift from the 1st to the 2nd floor.
- CO CF “Hospital of Doctor Svyderskyi” (Bilyi Kamin village): Repair of 4 living rooms, kitchen premises, and bathrooms on the 3rd floor, creation of additional living space, and improvement of sanitary conditions.
- Supported Living Department (Drohobych): Inclusive fit-out of the newly established facility, including grab bars, handrails, staff call buttons, tactile/directional signage, and functional medical beds.
Rivne Oblast
- “Khrinnyky” Children’s Sanatorium (Khrinnyky village): Adaptation of spaces for new bathroom facilities on the 2nd floor, main entrance replacement, installation of an inclined wheelchair platform lift, and creation of new inclusive spaces.
- “Horyn” Sanatorium (Stepan settlement): Ground floor renovation (3 bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms, hallway) and creation of new spaces in line with inclusion and accessibility standards.
- Dubno Home-Boarding Facility for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities (Dubno): Light repairs of Building No. 2, including adaptation of bedrooms, kitchen, and hallway according to inclusion standards.
- Berezne Forestry College Dormitory, Building No. 3 (Berezne): Renovation of ground floor bathrooms and living rooms, along with entrance replacement meeting accessibility standards.
- Myrohoshcha Agricultural College Dormitory No. 2 (Myrohoshcha Druha village): Repair of 4 ground floor rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry facility; entrance replacement and installation of hallway handrails following accessibility guidelines.
- Tuchyn Geriatric Boarding House (Tuchyn village): Procurement and installation of grab bars, handrails, staff call buttons, signage, and furniture.
- Zdolbuniv Geriatric Boarding House (Zdolbuniv): Procurement and installation of grab bars, handrails, staff call buttons, signage, and furniture.
- Supported Living Center / Assisted Care Facility (Buteiky village): Conversion and repair of premises for an assisted care center, equipping living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways with furniture and fire safety systems to establish 20 new spaces.
- Temporary Accommodation Center for IDPs (Lishnya village): Routine repair of the building, adapting bedrooms and hallways in line with inclusion and accessibility standards.
In addition to construction works, Team4UA will equip these centers with shared communal equipment, furniture, mobility devices for persons with reduced mobility, and essential domestic appliances.
“During project preparation, we visited these temporary accommodation centers to assess their technical state and the real needs of residents. In one dormitory, we met a woman living on the third floor of a building without an elevator. Because she could not navigate the stairs on her own, she hadn’t been able to go outside for over a year. This is precisely why accessibility and a barrier-free environment are key priorities in our rehabilitation efforts”

Renovation works are scheduled for completion by the end of September 2026. Following completion, the modernized facilities will continue to serve host communities for accommodating internally displaced persons, providing safer, more dignified, and accessible living conditions for those displaced by the war.
