On May 26, Guillaume Banos, Head of Programmes at Charity Foundation “Team4UA”, delivered a guest lecture titled “Humanitarian Projects for Social Workers” for Bachelor’s and Master’s students in Social Protection at Khmelnytskyi National University.
The session brought together 15 students, both in person and online.
The lecture focused on the humanitarian response in Ukraine and the role of NGOs in delivering assistance. Drawing on field experience, Guillaume shared practical project examples, humanitarian standards, and advice for students considering a career in the humanitarian sector after graduation.
While Ukraine’s humanitarian needs remain critical due to Russia’s full-scale invasion, support for vulnerable groups is also a long-term priority. IDPs, older people, persons with disabilities, and children will continue to require adapted assistance and protection services as the context evolves.
Strengthening the link between academia and humanitarian practice is essential to prepare the next generation of social workers in Ukraine.
“Sharing real field experience with students is not only about knowledge transfer. It is about helping prepare the next generation of professionals who will continue supporting vulnerable people as the context changes. The needs in Ukraine are critical while the full-scale invasion is ongoing, but social services and protection will remain essential beyond the war.” – Guillaume Banos
We sincerely thank Khmelnytskyi National University for the invitation and the opportunity to exchange with future colleagues.
