For women in remote and frontline communities, access to a gynecological check-up often depends not only on their willingness to take care of their health, but on whether there is a doctor nearby, transport available, and any realistic way to reach a medical facility.
That is why medical care has to come closer to women.
Since 1 April 2026, as part of the work of the TERA Consortium led by TEAM4UA, mobile gynecology teams have been operating in Donetsk, Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts. Over this period, 1,299 patients have received services.
During field visits, women can receive a gynecologist’s consultation and examination, undergo an ultrasound, and be tested for HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, and urogenital infections including chlamydia and gonorrhea. Where indicated, samples are also collected for additional laboratory testing: liquid-based cytology (Pap test), HPV PCR, urogenital culture, vaginal flora smear, and other analyses.
Women’s health should not depend on where a woman lives. The ability to see a doctor in time, undergo examination and learn about health risks must be available to women in communities where specialized medical care is limited as well.
