As part of efforts aimed at improving inclusive and dignified living conditions for internally displaced persons (IDPs) with limited mobility, disabilities, and chronic illnesses, this project supports the modernization and expansion of reception capacity in existing collective centers and selected social care facilities in Lviv and Rivne oblasts.
This initiative aligns with the Strategic Objective of Ukraine’s Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) — ensuring access to basic services for IDPs, conflict-affected populations, and returnees — and contributes to the Humanitarian Coordinator’s Thematic Priority: «Humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable groups among IDPs, including those residing in collective centers.»
The «Assistance for Collective Centers and Essential Support Services» (ACCESS) project includes assessments, design activities, and reconstruction works aimed at creating inclusive and accessible accommodation that ensures protection and continuity of care for the most vulnerable groups, with a particular focus on IDPs with limited mobility.
Position Overview:
The Driver works under the general supervision of the Drivers’ Coordinator. The primary responsibilities include providing safe passenger transportation for protection teams to IDP accommodation sites, operating Team4UA vehicles, and ensuring their proper technical maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure regular servicing of the assigned vehicle and maintain it in proper technical condition, including internal and external cleaning.
- Check the availability and functionality of vehicle equipment (spare tire, jack, belts, ropes, tools, etc.) before each trip.
- Immediately report any identified serious defects or mechanical issues.
- Maintain an up-to-date logbook, recording all trips, refueling, and related expenses, and be able to justify fuel consumption at any time.
- Transport staff members and officials of the organization to meetings, field missions, and other work locations.
- Ensure compliance with traffic regulations, including the use of seat belts, and adjust driving speed according to road and weather conditions, particularly in built-up and populated areas.
- Take appropriate decisions in case of road incidents or unforeseen situations, ensuring the safety of passengers and the vehicle.
- Ensure that the number of passengers does not exceed the legally permitted capacity of the vehicle.
- Properly justify and report any unplanned routes, stops, or detours to the supervisor or area coordinator.
- Exercise constant caution to ensure the safety of people and vehicles in the vicinity while driving.
Candidate Requirements:
- Education: Secondary specialized education or higher.
- Driving License: Category B and C.
- Work Experience: At least 5 years of professional driving experience; experience working with NGOs is an advantage.
- Medical Certificate: Valid medical certificate confirming fitness to operate motor vehicles.
- Language Skills: Knowledge of English is an advantage.
- Personal Qualities: Attentiveness, responsibility, and well-developed communication skills.
